In a world where perfection and productivity seem to be the ultimate goals, it's easy to get caught up in the idea that ambition is the only thing that will get us to the top. But what happens when ambition stops driving success and becomes a weight that prevents us from enjoying the journey?

I was intrigued by this question when I attended a workshop for women entering their third stage of life. In this space, we came together to reflect on our ambition and how it had impacted our careers and happiness. The idea was simple: what happens when we stop chasing ambition and start searching for something more?

The answer was eye-opening. Many of the women there were tired of the pressure to be perfect, the need to be constantly productive, and the lack of time to enjoy life. They wanted to find a balance between their careers and happiness, but they didn't know how to make it happen. Some had achieved success in their respective fields, but felt empty and without purpose. Others were on the verge of turning 40 and wondered if they had reached the peak of their lives.

In this context, it was incredible to see women who had accomplished great things in their lives, like serious and mature women, embracing the idea that ambition wasn't the only reason to exist. They said that ambition was important, but it shouldn't be the only goal. They wanted to find a deeper sense of life, something that would allow them to enjoy every moment and find happiness.

From Ambition to Balance

The third stage of life is a unique moment when we can reflect on our priorities and purpose. It's a moment when we can question what we're dedicated to and why. Instead of blindly following ambition, we can choose to seek a balance between our careers and happiness. We can find ways to keep doing what we love without sacrificing our mental and physical health. We can find ways to be productive without having to be perfect.

The Quest for Authenticity

The quest for authenticity is a process that takes time and patience. It's not something we can achieve overnight. However, it's something we can work towards every day. We can start by asking ourselves what makes us happy and how we can find more time to do what we love. We can start saying no to things that don't make us feel good. We can start searching for a deeper purpose in our lives.

The third stage of life is a moment to reflect on our priorities and purpose. It's a moment to seek a balance between our careers and happiness. It's a moment to find authenticity and find happiness. It's not a moment to blindly follow ambition, but to find a path that allows us to enjoy every moment and find the purpose that makes us happy.
